How To Host A Party With Zero Waste - You Got This!

There is no need to forsake fanfare and fun! As a party planner, you can take small yet effective steps to achieve your zero waste goals. First things first, make a list of everything you need and then look at it through the zero waste lens. Some of these ideas can help you get you started.

  1. Send invitations and request RSVPs digitally.

  2. Make finger foods for larger parties and consider serving tap water with lemon slices instead of fizzy water.

  3. Use a cloth tablecloth or placemats instead of a plastic table cover.

  4. Reusable plates and cutlery are a necessity. Choose bamboo or compostable options.

  5. Use cloth napkins, which add decorative accents to a table.

  6. Ditch the disposable straws and try some reusable & compostable ones like Bamboo straws.

  7. Provide reusable cutlery like Bamboo cutlery.

  8. Educate your friends about your zero waste efforts (so they don’t bring waste into your home)

  9. Bring your own container for leftovers when dining out.

  10. Set recycling and food scrap bins next to trash cans.

  11. When considering your decorations keep it minimal and use things that are either recyclable or compostable.

  12.  Rent or borrow some of your party essentials instead of buying new ones, helps keep your cost low too!
